Follower Growth
What is Follower Growth?
Follower Growth measures how quickly your Instagram account is gaining or losing followers. Instead of tracking total followers, Follower Growth reveals how followers have changed over time. Overall, Follower Growth is the total number of new followers minus the total number of those who unfollowed.
Where should I find Follower Growth?
To track Instagram Follower Growth use the Insights tool within Instagram. Load your Instagram profile screen and click on the menu tab (the three lines) in the top right. Navigate to “Audience Data” and select “Followers.” Here you’ll see the total number of users who have followed, as well as those who have unfollowed over a set period of time.
Why is Follower Growth Important?
Follower Growth reveals how successful recent brand strategies have been. It is one of the broader metrics used to identify whether Instagram marketing campaigns are working, and shines light on overall performance.
How to improve your Follower Growth metric?
Listen to your numbers! An increase in growth rate (follower growth over a period of time), reveals your audience is more attracted to what and how you’re posting. A decrease in growth rate reveals current strategies aren’t working as well as previous ones.
How frequently should I track this?
It’s important to keep an eye on Follower Growth when implementing new campaign strategies. While tracking weekly and monthly are good ideas, tracking across differing campaign strategies allows us to easily see how well specific campaigns are working.
